Cunard's Queen Victoria
A Day Aboard the Queen Victoria: A Wellness-Focused Escape
As I arrived at Southampton dock on October 24th, 2025, the Queen Victoria greeted me with her charming, intimate silhouette. There’s something truly storybook-like about her presence—quaint and absolutely stunning, making you feel like you’re stepping into a more graceful era of cruising.
Wellness at the Heart of the Visit
This visit was all about wellness, and Queen Victoria’s spa and fitness facilities were truly a highlight. Not only did we enjoy a wonderful taster massage session and a fun stretch class, but we also toured the full range of wellness amenities. The ship has a salon and hairdressers, and we got to see each individual treatment room, all offering a variety of treatments. We even spoke with one of the onboard doctors who provides aesthetic treatments to help guests look and feel rejuvenated. The gym was fantastic, and there was also a lovely indoor area with a pool, jets, and loungers—perfect for unwinding.
Exploring the Staterooms and Suites
We toured the staterooms, including the Princess Grill and Queens Grill suites. Each room felt like stepping back into an elegant era, true to Cunard’s White Star heritage. The Queens Grill suite was especially huge, with multiple bathrooms, a spacious living area, and cosy nooks for reading. Even the inside and balcony cabins were delightful and comfortable.
A Peek into the Queens Room and Entertainment Spaces
The Queens Room, the main ballroom, offered a beautiful space where you could see from one side of the ship to the other through the windows—adding to the ship’s intimate charm. They host a very popular afternoon tea here daily. We also saw the casino, which was small and unobtrusive, and the lovely theatre with great views from every seat.
Outdoor Spaces and Atmosphere
Outside, the ship offered pools, a giant chess set, a small tennis court, and plenty of seating. Queen Victoria isn’t focused on big family entertainment; it’s more for couples and quieter travellers who want to relax in an old-fashioned, elegant style, reminiscent of the Titanic’s heritage but with modern comforts.
Dining
We ended with a stunning three-course meal. I enjoyed a duck pâté, slow-cooked chicken, and a chocolate marquise for dessert—all flawless. The service was equally wonderful, with a friendly and funny waiter who made the experience memorable. We also managed to have a look at the Queens Grill Restaurant, which is especially for those staying in a Queens Grill Suite, this was absolutely beautiful and every table overlooked the ocean/dock, making it an exceptional experience. The Lido, which is the main buffet area was second to non, the food I saw available in here was nothing like I had seen on other cruise ships, every dish was hand crafted to perfection.
Would I Cruise with Cunard on Queen Victoria Again?
Absolutely—especially as a solo traveller. Queen Victoria’s smaller scale and elegant atmosphere cater wonderfully to quiet couples, the older generation, and families with older children. There’s even a kids’ club if needed, but overall, it’s perfect for those looking for a more intimate, luxurious, and tranquil cruise experience.
A big thank you to the Cunard team for allowing me to visit for the day. It’s definitely something I’ll consider sailing on in the future, and for those looking for that intimate, luxurious, and quiet atmosphere, Cunard is definitely the one for you.
